This device will make you faster

If you drive a rental kart, how do you actually know if you're fast or slow? Not "it felt quick." Actual proof.

That's the problem I had until I started using the RaceBox Mini. It learns any track, splits it into sectors, and gives you a live delta. So you know exactly where you're gaining time and where you're losing it, corner by corner.

Here's proof it works. I went to a 3-hour endurance race in Greece, on a track I'd never driven before. Within two practice sessions I was at race pace — not by guessing, but by using the live delta to test new lines and comparing my data against my teammate George, one of the fastest drivers in the country. No telemetry, that gap takes way longer to close. With it, you're not guessing anymore. You know exactly what you're doing well and exactly what's costing you time.

What's actually in the kit

This isn't one product — it's three parts working together.

1. The GPS — RaceBox Mini
The hardware itself. It's a 25Hz device, meaning it takes 25 position readings per second. Your phone's GPS is 1Hz — one reading per second.

That difference is the whole point: RaceBox gives you a smooth, precise trace that shows the exact moment you turned in, braked, or got back on the power. A phone GPS alone can't do that.

2. The Phone Mount
You need to get your phone onto the steering wheel securely and quickly — especially in rental karting where you're swapping karts constantly.

  • CarSketch — simple, plug-and-play, clips on with two reinforcing straps. (KTIPS10 for discount)

  • Mokadamo — more customizable, and compatible with professional cart timers like Alfano or Micron if you want to go further. (KTIPS5 for discount)

3. The Software

  • RaceBox app — free. Does the job, but only shows one display mode at a time (predicted gap, average speed, or predicted lap).

  • RaceChrono Pro — paid, more customizable, multi-dash display. Took me a few sessions to get used to it, but I haven't gone back since. I'm not sponsored to say this, I just genuinely rate it.

What this actually changes

Post-session, this is where it really pays off. You can pull up your best lap, see you hit personal bests in sectors 1 and 3 but braked late in the hairpin on sector 2.

Then check a different lap where sector 2 was your best but the others dropped off. Put the two together and you know your actual optimal lap time, and exactly what to work on next session.

That's the shift. Not "did that feel fast." Data that tells you precisely what to fix.
